The pandemic has been a global catastrophe, but the Mozambique national education coalition (MEPT) is trying to see if Covid-19 could also be the push needed to prove that change is possible.

After 30 years of authoritarian rule, a transitional government has taken office in Khartoum and opened a new window of opportunity for those striving to rebuild the stunted educational system in Sudan. Opportunities that the national education coalition is determined to seize.

September 2020 marked the deadline for the second and last round of applications for Education Out Loud’s Operational Component 3. The assessment of proposals began immediately after the deadline and is currently in process. In this announcement you can read more about the assessment process.

By June, Education Out Loud had received an amazing 461 applications from civil society organizations wanting to work with EOL in creating a conducive space for education in their home countries. Ten applicants from this call will be awarded a grant and all will be invited to the EOL network for inspiration and knowledge sharing.

At the heart of the COVID-19-pandemic in Latin America, children are suffering a rampant loss of learning. EOL and partners are striving to mitigate the consequences of school closures by developing and advocating solutions to meet local and national needs.

In early 2020, 54 National Coalitions from 54 different nations were each awarded a grant from Education Out Loud. The Coalitions had earlier received grants from the Civil Society Education Fund under Global Partnership for Education and are continuing their efforts in strengthening civil society engagement in education planning, policy dialogue and monitoring at a national level.

In April Education Out Loud launched our first call for concept notes on Operational Component 2 supporting civil society roles in promoting the transparency and accountability of national education sector policy and implementation.
