Imagine being a CSO working for the right to education in a country largely controlled by a group directly – and often violently – opposing the very same. This is the reality that Afghanistan National Education Coalition (ANECO) navigates every single day.

By June, Education Out Loud had received an amazing 461 applications from civil society organizations wanting to work with EOL in creating a conducive space for education in their home countries. Ten applicants from this call will be awarded a grant and all will be invited to the EOL network for inspiration and knowledge sharing.

At the heart of the COVID-19-pandemic in Latin America, children are suffering a rampant loss of learning. EOL and partners are striving to mitigate the consequences of school closures by developing and advocating solutions to meet local and national needs.

In early 2020, 54 National Coalitions from 54 different nations were each awarded a grant from Education Out Loud. The Coalitions had earlier received grants from the Civil Society Education Fund under Global Partnership for Education and are continuing their efforts in strengthening civil society engagement in education planning, policy dialogue and monitoring at a national level.

The Global Partnership for Education is excited to announce the launch of four regional calls for proposals between July and September 2020 under its Knowledge and Innovation Exchange (KIX).

Ten grant applications have been shortlisted by Education Out Loud to support transnational civil society alliances in carrying out innovative multi-country advocacy. Shortlisted applicants will spend up to four months to develop a full proposal, which will be reviewed and approved before the end of the year.

Every six months a Technical Progress Report is submitted to GPE. The first report covers all of the active months last year April – December 2019.
