Sustaining the strategic capabilities of VAEFA to advocate for inclusive and gender responsive education
Key issues within the education sector of Vietnam includes:
-
Lack of inclusive and equitable learning environment for learners from marginalised and vulnerable groups.
-
Gaps in youth and adult education and non-formal education in Vietnam
-
Inadequate delivery of early childhood care and education, especially for children from 0 to 3 years.
-
Quality of education at all levels needed to be strengthened.
-
Resources for education remain inadequate to reach the most marginalised and vulnerable sectors.
Through this project, Vietnam Association for Education for All (VAEFA) is seeking to address these issues and work towards strengthening VAEFA as a platform for CSOs to effectively advocate for inclusive, gender-responsive, equitable and resilient quality education.
The specific objectives of the project can be divided in three:
-
Strong engagement in policy processes to influence the implementation and financing of the Vietnam Education Strategic Development Plan 2021-2030 and the SDG4 plan of action.
-
Context responsive monitoring efforts aimed at improving education policies and programmes within a rights-based, inclusive, gender responsive, equitable, and resilient quality education and lifelong learning framework, attentive to the learning needs of the most vulnerable groups in Vietnam.
-
Deepened institutional capacities aimed at sustaining the advocacy work of VAEFA and contribute towards national and transnational collaborative learning and solidarity efforts for education.
The project is building on the previous project phase, implemented between April 2022 – December 2023, where VAEFA strengthened its advocacy profile in key education policy mechanisms and as a well-recognised active member of the Education Sector Group (ESG) in Vietnam.
The current project builds on the advocacy achievements and will sustain the ability of VAEFA to influence education policies, programs, and budgets through the policy spaces it occupies. It also aims to undertake monitoring efforts to bring out ground realities on the implementation of government programmes and policies, ensuring these efforts will effectively reach the marginalised and vulnerable groups.
Together with its members and partners, who has deep experience with education issues and context-based approaches, VAEFA will continue to bring greater attention to policy, financing, and programmatic gaps in basic, youth and adult education within a gender transformative, rights based, and inclusive lifelong learning framework. Further, the coalition will ensure that its institutional and advocacy capabilities remain strong and resilient, contributing to its long-term sustainability. It is also committed to participating in collaborative efforts for learning, synergies, and solidarity-building with CSOs and EOL partners at national and transnational levels.
A previous phase of the project was implemented between April 2022 – December 2023. The current project is part of the EOL extension phase of 2024-2026. Read more about the previous phase of the project here.
