What themes and events are likely to appear on the agenda of education advocates in the year to come? We have asked Kira Boe, policy advisor, Oxfam Denmark; and Ramya Vivekanandan and Margaret Louise Irving, GPE technical leads on learning and teaching and on domestic financing respectively.
Without readily available and up to date data, ensuring girls’ right to education is almost impossible. With the launch of the online EducateHER platform, HOPE Liberia aims to fill the huge data gap on girls’ education in Liberia.
During 2020 the number of displaced people worldwide set new records, highlighting the need for immediate action to secure education in displacement. Civil society plays a key role in addressing the devastating impacts of displacement on children’s continued learning.
In February 2021, GPE launched a new online portal for country partners to facilitate a more uniform understanding of how GPE can add value in country-level policy dialogue, sector processes and implementation – both through the GPE as a fund and as a partnership.
Every six months a Technical Progress Report is submitted to GPE. The first report covers all of the active months last year April – December 2019.
Unfortunately, there is a huge gap between the countries´ international legal commitments to provide universal free and quality education and the reality of ensuring such quality education for all. This is where Civil Society plays a crucial role.
