The IID Pathway to Social Accountability
Social accountability encourages citizens and civil society to engage in holding public institutions responsible for their actions.
The Institute of Informatics and Development (IID), Bangladesh has created a social accountability model based on its 3i principles: Inquire, Inform, and Involve. This model promotes an informed, inclusive, and democratic society. It presents a theory of change focused on improving governance through evidence-based actions and building the capacities of both the public and policymakers. Using this social accountability mechanism, IID empowers civil society organisations (CSOs), including Youth Volunteers, to address the needs of marginalised communities. As the host of the CSO alliance and the Youth for Policy Network, IID is dedicated to driving transformative change through social accountability in the society.
The Booklet on IID’s Pathway to Social Accountability was developed with support from Education Out Loud, and provides an overview of IID’s social accountability models, highlighting strategies for engaging stakeholders, developing capacities, and supporting community-driven initiatives.
