The Lebanon Project

Overview:
The Lebanese Coalition for Education for All (ANPE), part of the regional Arab Campaign for Education for All (ACEA) network, aims to ensure that education policies in Lebanon are more responsive to the social outcomes of quality education, including citizenship, human rights, gender equality and inclusion, socio-emotional wellbeing, and social responsibility. The project focuses on strengthening ANPE’s institutional and technical capacity, expanding its role in planning and monitoring public education policies, and securing sustainable resources to support long-term advocacy for inclusive and equitable reforms.

Specific Objectives:

  1. Strengthen the institutional and technical capacity of the Lebanese education coalition to actively participate in planning and monitoring public education policies.
  2. Increase the coalition’s influence at social and policy levels by fostering dialogue, accountability, and collaboration with local communities, public officials, and national and international stakeholders.
  3. Diversify and mobilize financial and other resources to secure the coalition’s long-term role in advocating for inclusive and equitable education reforms.

Key Activities:

  • Capacity building for coalition members on SDG4, gender equality, inclusion, social outcomes of education, advocacy, and social accountability.
  • Structured platforms for dialogue with communities, education authorities, and other stakeholders to inform policies and monitor reforms.
  • Research and documentation on barriers to education, with a focus on refugee children, children with disabilities, girls, and marginalized communities.
  • Development of strategies and mechanisms for joint accountability between CSOs, communities, and government institutions.
  • Diversification of financial resources through donor engagement, fundraising, and strengthened coalition governance.

Expected Results:

  • Stronger institutional, technical, and advocacy capacity of the Lebanese education coalition.
  • Broader and more effective civil society participation in planning and monitoring education policies.
  • Increased attention to equity, inclusion, and social outcomes of quality education in national reforms.
  • Enhanced sustainability of the coalition through diversified resources and stronger governance structures.

These sustainable results will contribute to building a more inclusive, equitable, and resilient education system in Lebanon, ensuring that all children and young people have the opportunity to access quality learning and thrive.

The current project is part of the Education Out Loud extension phase 2024–2026.
